This is a real story of a real customer of DreamGenius Ltd:
A business acquaintance received an
unsolicited telephone call one day in which he was invited to buy a domain name
consisting of his company name with a BIZ suffix.
The salesman extolled this
with such phrases as "It's the
next big thing" and "all the COM domain names have gone". The asking price
for this ground level entry to the new world of the Internet was
an incredibly reasonable £150 + VAT. He was encouraged to "take it now while the offer
stands" in the best traditions of high-pressure salesmanship.
DreamGenius was asked for a second opinion so a little investigation was
done. A visit to our domain
providers produced
a list of available domains incorporating his company name in a recognisable
form and at the very top, was the COM domain for a mere £30, VAT inclusive. In addition, at the bottom, was
the same BIZ domain being offered to him for just £20!
The obvious question was
"What else is this guy offering for the extra £130?" No satisfactory answer to this question was forthcoming from the
salesman, nor any further communication interestingly enough!
As a consequence,
DreamGenius secured the COM domain name for this company, as well as the
contract to provide the web design. We did nothing more than be
honest and above board - a perfect testament to the ultimate triumph of integrity over
exploitation.
