Have You Installed Service Pack 2 Yet?

Microsoft withdrew support for Windows XP without Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed in October 2006, which means that no further critical updates or notifications for this version of their operating system will be released in the future.

If you're not already running SP2, you're effectively unprotected from now on. How do you deal with this? As in all things, you have options, both of which are on the official Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 page.

If you have a broadband connection, all you really need to do is go to Microsoft Update and make sure that you're right up to date. If you don't or would rather not, you can request a CD through the post, free of charge. Either way, installing SP2 is as simple as following the on-screen instructions.
